About Vera Fernandez

Thanks for visiting my site. Let me tell you a little about me.

I have always had a passion for writing and first started writing woman's fiction in the 1980s. Having failed miserably with longer work and with home commitments stealing the time I needed to do better work, I decided to have a go at short fiction. So it was that I became a published writer for the first time under three different pen names, Kathryn Allard, Alyson Craig and for work written from a male perspective I used the name Patrick Archer.  Time passed and work, the sort that makes enough to pay the bills, got in the way so that writing took a back seat.

This year, after a bit of a health scare, I decided to take my life back. My writing life among other things. The years we have are all too short and it was time to do the things that are really important to me, one of which is writing.

It is now much easier for a writer to become published. Thanks to Amazon, writers have a lot more control over their output. With that in mind I gave some serious consideration to the various genre. I have always been tempted to try my hand at thriller writing but in the end I decided to go back to what I know best - romantic fiction. The genre in which I had already achieved some limited success through women's magazines.

Like many a writer past and present, I live in Cornwall. It is a great county to fire up the creative imagination. With beautiful and dramatic locations and a wealth of history to inspire, there really should be enough to keep me writing for decades. Yet in the first two books released this year Cornwall only gets a fleeting mention. So I shall have to work on that. For the first works, I have used my original home county, Sussex and London as the main locations plus a fictional island in the Andaman Sea.

You will find my work available in ebook format on Amazon I hope that you decide to try them and if you do please remember to put a review up afterwards.

Thank you.
